1950s mystery thriller adapted by Victor Canning from his novel about a detective who gets caught up in a murder plot. Private detective Edward Mercer (Richard Todd) travels to Venice on a mission to find an Italian veteran who is due to be rewarded for his efforts in the Second World War. When he arrives, however, Mercer realises he is being set up with both the police and a group of partisans hot on his trail.
Rod Taylor and Christopher Plummer star in this 1960s action thriller adapted from Jon Cleary's novel 'The High Commissioner'. Australian police sergeant Scobie Malone (Taylor) is sent to London to arrest High Commissioner Sir James Quentin (Plummer), who is currently engaged in sensitive peace talks, on the suspicion of murdering his first wife 25 years previously. Malone allows Quentin a few days to finish his work before taking him back to Australia and during this time stays with the suspect and his second wife Sheila (Lilli Palmer) in their home. Complications arise, however, when Malone finds himself having to prevent Quentin's assassination at the hands of a ruthless group of spies.
1950s British drama following a group of London pub darts players on a day trip to France. The members of the group have various interests to pursue in France. While some are going just for the darts, one man plans to buy cheap watches and smuggle them back to Britain for a profit. Jim Carver (Donald) has a more sombre intention. Having fought in France during the war, he heads to a nearby cemetery to pay his respects to a fallen comrade. Along the way he bumps into Martine (Odile Versois), a Frenchwoman he used to know. Love blossoms, but Jim and his fellow darts players have a boat to catch...
